The post’s Hindi-language caption translates to English as: “Bengal's honour has been robbed. Is this woman not a daughter of Bengal, only Mamata is a woman there? Shame on those women who are still supporting Mamta despite being women."

Mamata refers to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, whose party, All India Trinamool Congress emerged victorious for the third time in state assembly polls in April.

Deadly clashes erupted between supporters of rival political parties around the state after the results were announced on May 2, 2021.

The photo was also shared here, here, here and here on Facebook; and here, here, here and here on Twitter; alongside an identical claim.

The claim is false.

A reverse image search on Google found the photo was shared alongside two other images of the same woman on Twitter here on November 4, 2020.

“Anamika Das, victim of atrocity by the hands of land-grabbers in Chattogram”, reads the headline in Bengali.

“A couple of men, namely Rubel, Shakil and Arman, allegedly attacked Anukul Master's son and granddaughter - Ratan Nath and Anamika Das - in order to forcibly grab their lands in Aman Bazar of Hat Hazari, Chattogram, on November 1, 2020,” the report says.

An AFP journalist in Bangladesh found the logo on a chair in the photo is that of a Bangladeshi furniture brand "regal".

The brand is owned by RFL group.
