A Facebook post claims that a video shows planes being lifted off the ground at the Hong Kong airport by the strong winds brought by Typhoon Mangkhut, which slammed into Hong Kong on September 16.
The post is captioned: "Seriously? This happend (sic) in hongkong airport. #Mangkhut"
The video was posted on a Facebook page with more than 300,000 followers and has been shared hundreds of times, according to CrowdTangle data.
A reverse image search of the screenshots of the clip found that the video was taken from the 2014 Hollywood film “Into the Storm.”
The clip used in the Facebook post can be seen two minutes and 13 seconds into the trailer for the movie available on YouTube.
Hong Kong's Airport Authority, when asked whether strong winds during Typhoon Mangkhut had caused planes to flip over at the airport, told AFP they had received no reports on any such incident.
Hong Kong’s government mentions only that flights at the city's airport were cancelled, not any major damage to planes, in their official statement on the typhoon.
Typhoon Mangkhut pounded the Philippines, Hong Kong and southern China in mid-September with violent winds and heavy rain.
