A video that shows a harbour village surrounded by mountains has been shared in a Twitter post with a claim it shows Redfern, Australia. The Twitter post has been retweeted multiple times. The claim is false; the footage in fact shows Portofino on the Italian Riviera coastline.

The 10-second video was shared in this Twitter post on May 30, 2019.

The caption states: “Redfern, Australia”.

According to the Pocket-Oz travel website: “Redfern, an inner-city suburb of Sydney, is located 3 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district”.

The claim is false; the video in fact shows the Italian coastal village of Portofino, a popular tourist destination located southeast of the city of Genoa.

A reverse image search of a screenshot of the footage found these similar images described as taken at the Portofino harbour.
