A video on Facebook purports to show a leader of the Indian National Congress party, Ashok Gehlot, waving Pakistan’s national flag at a rally. The claim is false: the video is genuine and Ashok Gehlot is waving a flag, however it is not Pakistan’s flag.

The misleading video has been viewed 14 thousands times and has over a thousand shares since it was posted, last Wednesday, November 28.

Translated from Hindi, the caption says: “Pakistan’s flag is waved at Ashok Gehlot’s rally in Rajasthan, result of voting for Congress.”

Gehlot is the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress party.

However, the flag that Gehlot is waving is not Pakistan's national flag.

Pakistan's flag is also green, but it has a white stripe on its side, as well as a white crescent and star on it. The flag Gehlot is waving is a plain green flag.

The video was originally posted on Gehlot’s Facebook page.

The post has a caption in Hindi saying: “Today in Jodhpur, flagged off a procession organized on the occasion of Eid-Milad-un-Nabi.”

In some strains of Islam, Eid-Milad-un-Nabi refers to the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.
