A Facebook page focusing on cricket reports that Cricket Australia has lifted bans on ex-captain Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft. The bans have not been lifted.

The @insidercricket page posted an article from its website on November 8 stating that the bans on the three Australian stars, imposed after they admitted to cheating in a Test match against South Africa in March 2018, had been lifted following pressure from the players’ union, the Australian Cricketers’ Association. Its headline reads: Shameless Australia opts to lift Bans.

As of November 14, Cricket Australia has not made any announcement about the bans being lifted. Its news releases can be seen here.

The issue of the bans has dominated Australia’s sports media. Since the false post from @insidercricket, sports publications have reported that the bans remain in place, including in the article from foxsports.com.au.
