McDonald's freebies for teachers only available in nine US States

Posts shared thousands of times on Facebook in the US and Canada claim that McDonald’s is offering free “Thank You Treats” to teachers from January 6 to 15. But the offer is not available in Canada and it only applies in a limited number of US states.

The photograph in the post has been shared more than 4,000 times in Canada and more than 24,000 times in the United States, since January 5. It shows a McDonald’s branded sign addressed to teachers and offering a free coffee and a choice of a free apple fritter, cinnamon roll or blueberry muffin “from January 6th to January 15th.”

Contacted by AFP, a spokeswoman for the fast food giant said by email: “The offer is valid only at participating US McDonald’s restaurants from January 6 – 15 in New York, New England, Northern & Central New Jersey, Northwestern Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Harrisburg and surrounding areas.”

The offer does not extend beyond those nine states.

“We can confirm this offer is not available in Canada” she added.
