A graphic video of an individual covered in blood shows a man in Bangladesh who was attacked by his wife, contrary to posts claiming it shows a Muslim man whose genitals were severed by his daughters after he sexually abused them. The clip was edited down and mirrored from footage that was used in Bangladeshi news reports. Local police told AFP the accused was arrested, and the victim is receiving treatment in hospital.

Warning: graphic language and content

"Abdul used to frequently rape his three daughters. This time, he was attempting to rape his fourth daughter -- who is six and a half years old -- but his three older daughters severed his genitals," says part of a Hindi-language Facebook post on June 30, 2026.

"The incident took place in Kerala; you can guess what their religion is. These people are a threat to the world," continues the post, which includes the hashtags "Islam", "Kerala" and "cult".

Attached to the post is a video, viewed more than 110,000 times, that shows a man screaming and running out of a house while covered in blood and covering his groin.

The video was shared in similar Facebook and Instagram posts.

But there have been no official reports of such an incident occurring in Kerala.

A reverse image search on Google using keyframes from the falsely shared video led to a longer version published by Bangladeshi news outlet News21 on its official Facebook page on June 29 (archived link).

The falsely shared video appears to have been mirrored from this footage.

According to its Bengali-language caption, the incident occurred in Bhanga, in the Faridpur district of central Bangladesh. It says a woman allegedly severed her husband's genitalia while he was asleep.

It goes on to say local residents later contacted Bangladesh's emergency helpline and the woman was subsequently handed over to the police.

Local media reported the woman was the man's second wife, and she allegedly attacked him while he was sleeping on June 29 (archived here and here). The reports say they argued the previous night, and had frequently quarrelled about the man supposedly having relationships with multiple women.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the Bhanga Police Station, told AFP on July 13: "The accused is now in jail while the victim is still under treatment in a hospital in the capital Dhaka."
